As the season goes on, the Wednesday and Saturday match-ups just seem to get better. Although the weather forecast is looking like all these games will get postponed, I will go over the best ones anyway.
#7 South Windsor @ Tri-Town @ 4pm
-Tri-Town is 9-1 with the only relatively good win being 5-4 in OT over Greenwich, while they lost 1-4 to Amity. Nonetheless, if S Windsor can put on a good show against Tri-Town it will do them a lot of good in terms of being considered one of the top teams in the state.
*****#4 Hamden @ #1 Fairfield Prep @ 6
-This game speaks for itself but to put things in context, Hamden is looking to build on their big 4-1 win over ND-WH and Prep could use the win as momentum for when they host #3 Xavier on Saturday. Hamden did win back on 1/8, 3-2 in OT, at home against Prep but as I discuss in my rankings, I think Prep should have won that game. A clear-cut win for Hamden here though, would make them, in my mind, the best team in the state again (at least untill we see how Xavier does against Prep and Hamden does against New Canaan). The Wonderland of Ice in Bridgeport is sure to be packed for what was, let's not forget, the match-up in the DI Championship just last March.
Trumbull @ #10 Darien @ 6
-Trumbull can regain some respect with a win but I'm more so looking to see how well Darien preforms against decent competition.
#6 West Haven @ Notre Dame-Fairfield @ 715
-West Haven can bounce back from their 2-6 loss to Amity while ND-Fairfield can pick up a good win in the very tough schedule they play. I will be looking to see how West Haven responds to the loss and if they really deserve to be ranked ahead of South Windsor.
Conard @ #8 Glastonbury @ 730
-The #3 and #2 teams in the CCC respectively. Conard would like the big win after a heartbreaking 0-1 loss to #7 S Windsor while Glastonbury needs to win to remain on S Windsor's level. The game will be a good parameter for where both teams stand right now.
I hope everyone stays safe and warm, especially if anyone loses power. Be on the look out for another post tomorrow, regardless if any of these games happen or not.
This blog is all about high school sports in Connecticut. I do not cover every sport but I cover mainly girls vball, girls bball, football, boys bball, boys ice hockey, boys lacrosse and occasional posts on running (all 3 seasons), girls field hockey, wrestling, and boys soccer. I have a special interest in boys vball since I play that sport. I am a contributing writer for LaxPower; you should check out the link below!
