Four more tickets to Ingalls Rink at Yale University were handed out:
(9) Suffield-Granby-Windsor Locks 1 vs (1) Guilford 5 at Koeppel Community Sports Center (Trinity)
-Yeah Guilford didn't have any trouble getting back on track, especially the offense! Billy Ring had a goal and two assists, Jake Lane and Garrett Salkins both had a goal and an assist (to each other's goals actually), and Jordan Drake had two points on two assists as well. Jack Fitzgerald lead all scorers with two goals and Dave Decaprio also recorded an assist. The Indians are now headed to Yale on Monday.
(4) Trumbull 5 vs (5) Westhill 4 OT at Wonderland of Ice (Bridgeport)
-Yes the score is quite ironic but a one point win in OT is nothing out of the ordinary between two FCIAC teams in the postseason! Trumbull will move on to face Guilford on Monday at Yale's Ingalls in New Haven and they will be the first FCIAC team for Guilford to face all year.

(2) Cheshire 2 vs (7) Hand 1 at Bennett Rink (West Haven)
-Like I said, Hand wasn't going to pull off the upset twice, especially when it the state tournament. Hand still has their SCC-DII Championship but Cheshire will need to play a lot better if they expect to beat Wilton in the next round on Monday at Yale.
(3) Wilton 2 vs (6) East Catholic 1 at Northford Ice Pavilion
-Dillon Pastorello and Henry Hunter Lee scored for Wilton as they squeaked by East Catholic. The Eagles had their chances but like I said in the post after they won the CCC-East Championship, their goalie is their weakness; East outshot Wilton 36-8! That is actually encouraging for Wilton's goalie that he had 35 saves but the offense will need more than eight shots to beat the 2009 DII Champions, Cheshire, in the semifinals at Ingalls Rink.
This blog is all about high school sports in Connecticut. I do not cover every sport but I cover mainly girls vball, girls bball, football, boys bball, boys ice hockey, boys lacrosse and occasional posts on running (all 3 seasons), girls field hockey, wrestling, and boys soccer. I have a special interest in boys vball since I play that sport. I am a contributing writer for LaxPower; you should check out the link below!

Hey Scalz-What happened to Wiltons Size and Speed being too much or EC? Bottom line they won the game but they were out hit and out skated by a long shot.
ReplyDeleteYeah Jay, things don't always happen the way you think they're going to, especially in the postseason. I would have liked to see East, I really like them, but Wilton found a way and I hope for their sake that they play a lot better tonight!
