As many schools have winter break either this week or next week, let's see how, if at all, that affects them.
Monday
St. Joseph vs Amity @ 4pm @ Rentschler Field
-In the first day of non-prep high school hockey at the Whalers Hockey Fest, the rivalry is renewed. St. Jospeh took apart Amity 5-0 way back on 1/6 but both teams are coming off losses (St. Joseph to New Canaan and Amity to North Haven) so this should be a good one. FYI tickets are $10 a game or $30 for all of the events.
Sheehan vs Lyman Hall @ 730 @ Rentschler Field
-I am only feautring this game because it is also a rivalry and it is at the outdoor venue. Lyman Hall won 6-2 when the two played last, 1/17, but both teams are in the middle to bottom of their division so this game is one of the few things left they're playing for. I think it will actually shape up to be a good game.
Tuesday
St. Joseph @ Darien @ 230
-As part of their three game in four day (they play Greenwich Thurs too), St. Joseph will go into Darien Ice Rink for a FCIAC game against a good Darien team taht struggles at times. Both could use the fairly big win over each other going forward in this here last month of the regular season. There is no underdog, favorite, or existence of an upset in this game, although if I had to choose I'd take Darien.
Greenwich @ Westhill @ 815
-This game got a lot more interesting when DII squad Westhill beat ranked Darien last Saturday. Westhill is not bad, I just wasnt expecting that from a middle almost upper-level DII team. I guess you just never know in these FCIAC confrence games!
Be ready for Wednesday too, lots of interesting match-ups!
This blog is all about high school sports in Connecticut. I do not cover every sport but I cover mainly girls vball, girls bball, football, boys bball, boys ice hockey, boys lacrosse and occasional posts on running (all 3 seasons), girls field hockey, wrestling, and boys soccer. I have a special interest in boys vball since I play that sport. I am a contributing writer for LaxPower; you should check out the link below!
