This is what the Division I bracket will look like when the CIAC makes it official on Saturday:

Some things to note:
-South Windsor lucked out and landed Tri-Town first round (seed before Tri-Town was Amity and after was Darien...both are a lot better teams than Tri-Town)
-St. Jospeh vs Amity first round has upset written all over it. Not only was St. Joseph going to land a seed much higher than they deserve because they have three out of state wins (auto nine points each) but they landed the best team in the bottom 6 of seeds.
-Bottom/Right of bracket is hardest (SW, Xavier, Hamden, Prep, West Haven)
-3 of the top 4 seeds in the Top/Left of the bracket are FCIAC teams.
-Of the top 8 seeds, 4 are SCC, 3 are FCIAC and only 1 is CCC
-Both Prep and Hamden cannot make it to Yale, opening a spot for a team outside the top 4 in the state like Ridgefield or St Joseph (you also can't assume South Windsor will lose to Xavier)
-Xavier has only lost to one team on their side of the bracket, Prep, and Prep could very well lose to Hamden in the quarterfinals
-Potetial Quartfinals match-ups: New Canaan vs ND-WH, Ridgefield vs St. Joseph (4th time this season), Xaveir vs South Windsor and Hamden vs Prep
I hope everyone else is as excited for the state tournament to start next Wednesday as I am!
This blog is all about high school sports in Connecticut. I do not cover every sport but I cover mainly girls vball, girls bball, football, boys bball, boys ice hockey, boys lacrosse and occasional posts on running (all 3 seasons), girls field hockey, wrestling, and boys soccer. I have a special interest in boys vball since I play that sport. I am a contributing writer for LaxPower; you should check out the link below!
