There are two things I need to address:
1) St. Bernard-Bacon Academy-Norwich Free Academy may have to forfeit the ENTIRE SEASON for playing with an ineligible player. The IMPACT: Lyman Hall and Immaculate-New Fairfield would each get an additional win, and Milford Co-op would get two additional wins, qualifying all three them for the DII tournament. East Catholic and Fairfield Warde/Ludlowe in DII would also pick up another win to add to their points (2 points). This will reshape the DII tourney a lot! Some DIII teams will pick up wins as well because St. Bernard-Bacon-NFA was 12-8. I would say the likelihood of this happening is probable.
2) Westhill received six majors (major penalties) throughout the season and that may disqualify them from the postseason, bumping every team in the DII tournament up one seed. This is not like (1) because they do not have to forfeit any games, they just will not be allowed to play in the state tournament. From what I hear, they will still be allowed to play but if they got just a few more it would have DQ-ed them.
A decision on both will be made by noon Saturday when the official brackets are released on the CIAC website. I will bring you the results and official brackets.
This blog is all about high school sports in Connecticut. I do not cover every sport but I cover mainly girls vball, girls bball, football, boys bball, boys ice hockey, boys lacrosse and occasional posts on running (all 3 seasons), girls field hockey, wrestling, and boys soccer. I have a special interest in boys vball since I play that sport. I am a contributing writer for LaxPower; you should check out the link below!
