Boys' Lacrosse: Friday and Saturday Top Games (4/22 and 4/23)

Friday 4/22

two games, none good

Saturday 4/23 - all of the out of state opponents today are pretty good and present a good opportunity for CT lac to prove it is the deepest in terms of good lax teams.

Staples @ Greenwich @ 11am

Delbarton (NJ) @ Fairfield Prep @ 12
-A top 3 team in NJ comes and takes on a top 3 team in our state. I think Prep will win but you can expect a hard-fought lacrosse game!

Weston @ Huntington (NY) @ 130

Brien McMahon @ Darien @ 2
-I think Brien McMahon will finally get their first loss of the season today...but you never know.

John Jay (NY) @ New Canaan @ 2

Glastonbury @ Medfield (MA)

Boys' Lacrosse: Wednesday and Thursday Top Games (4/20 and 4/21)

Wednesday 4/20

New Canaan @ Summit (NJ) @ 2pm
-Summit is on a 53 game win streak and has beat our own Ridgefield already this year. They will be very good competition for the Rams but I just don't see them pulling out the win.

Yorktown (NY) @ Darien @ 430
-Yorktown is 5-1 in a very good division in NY; their only loss is 11-12 in double OT to a Top Ten team in NY (Yorktown also already beat a Top Ten team). Darien would love to show they can beat more than just CT teams so this is looking line it will be a good one!

Thursday 4/21

Glastonbury @ Staples @ 12pm
-What interests me most about this game is that Staples isn't even the top FCIAC team (Darien, New Canaan, Ridgefield and Greenwich are all better; St. Joseph and Wilton may be too) yet they could be better than the top team in the CCC, Glastonbury (Southington and Simsbury are a close second and third respectively)!

Cheshire @ Simsbury @ 2
-Another interesting cross-conference match-up! Cheshire can reassert themselves against a very good team while Simsbury has the chance to go from a good team to a great team by getting the big win here...home turf should help as well!

St. Joseph @ New Canaan @ 4
-Just another day in lacrosse's top conference, the FCIAC. The daily top match-ups like this one are what make the FCIAC the best conference and prepares the teams involved to keep it that way!

Greenwich @ Wilton @ 7
-see the comment above.

Boys' Volleyball: Wednesday through Friday Top Games (4/20 thru 4/22)

There are no top games; Bassick faces some good teams in Staples and Darien and the SCC has some good divisional match-ups with Hand v Amity and Cheshire v Shelton...Maloney v Enfield won't be too bad either. See you next week!

Boys' Lacrosse: Monday and Tuesday Results (4/18 and 4/19)

Monday 4/18

Simsbury 9 @ Brien McMahon 8
-BIGGGGGGG win for Simsbury and it came on the road...even more impressive!

New Milford 6 @ Masuk 7

St. Joseph 7 @ Newton 17
-This result tells me that not only is Newton pretty good this year but also that St. Joseph isn't as good as expected.

Boys' Lacrosse: Monday and Tuesday's Top Games (4/18 and 4/19)

Monday 4/18

Simsbury @ Brien McMahon @ 3pm
-An undefeated Brien McMahon looks to keep rolling against a pretty good Simsbury squad that has just had some tough losses to Joel Barlow, Xavier and Daniel Hand.  McMahon had impressive wins over St. Joseph and a decent Brookfield team so it will be interesting to see who wins this odd match-up.

New Milford @ Masuk @ 4
-Could shape out to be an okay lacrosse game.

St. Joseph @ Newton @ 6
-You haven't heard much from Newton and Colby Summerlin this season yet but trust me, they are good!  They sit at 4-0 with a 20-3 win over Brookfield in their first game and then 20-0 over Stratford in the next.  Recently, they took down New Milford 15-7 and then a very good Conard team 8-7 on Saturday.  St. Joseph is 2-2 by way of losses to Darien and Brien McMahon but they have talent and it showed in their 14-7 win over Norwalk and 16-0 over Notre Dame- Fairfield.  How they will do in this game is uncertain but a win would be huge!

Tuesday 4/19

Glastonbury @ Fairfield Prep @ 345pm
-CCC v SCC; powerhouse v powerhouse, Prep's balance offense v Douglas Pollack.  Although even northern fans are picking Cheshire to win this one, it should still be a very good lacrosse game and when two top teams go  head-to-head you never really know what is going to happen so never say never!

Joel Barlow @ Daniel Hand @ 7
-Again, another odd match-up, this time between a SCC team and a SWC team.  Barlow is 4-0 with quality wins over Simsbury 7-4 and Masuk 14-2 and then impressive wins 18-1 over and 19-0 over Stratford.  Hand may be 2-3 but they beat Guilford 10-5 and  Simsbury 8-6 and listen to how filthy the teams they lost to are: Cheshire only 7-8, Prep 6-10 and Glastonbury 7-11.  This game will be very good and a great night game on Hand's turf field!

Boys' Volleyball: Top Games for Mon 4/18 and Tues 4/19

Monday 4/18

Ridgefield @ Darien @ 11am
-School vacation allows a lot fo 11am and 12pm games this week and that will provide an additional factor to each game.  4-1 Darien host 5-0 Ridgefield in a FCIAC volleyball contest; does it get much better than that in the regular season?

Tuesday 4/19

no good games
