-Wow, just what you'd expect in such a quality game as this, THREE OVERTIMES!!!!! Big win for New Canaan; its a shame that they play in Class M and not Class L but maybe they can catch Darien on a bad day in the tournament or something like that because they certainly have the talent to win it all!

Boys' Volleyball: Top Games for Wed 5/11 and Thurs 5/12

Wednesday 5/11

Fermi @ Bloomfield @ 5pm

Newington @ Glastonbury @ 5
-It will probably be 3-0 Newington again but this is a CCC rivalry so anything cna happen.

Ridgefield @ Staples @ 530
-Oh baby, this a gem of a game in the middle of the week!  Ridgefield has only lost twice this season, both to Darien.  Now they play Staples this Wednesay in Wesport then back home in Ridgefield next Wednesday.  Staples beat Darien the first time around but lost to Masuk and then Darien just this past Friday on the road.  I think this match will come down to who wants it more and I'm leaning towards Staples after what they showed in their 3-0 slaughter of a very good Southington team.  I expect the Wreckers to get up for this one too, the Tigers to make it a heck of a match, but the kids from Wesport to come out on top.

Wolcott Tech @ Farmington @ 6
-Classic rivalry between two top Class M teams.

Thursday 5/12

Amity @ Daniel Hand @ 530
-Both have pretty good records (Amity: 8-5, Hand: 7-4) and are fighting for SCC seeding PLUS the two went 5 sets two weeks ago in a match that Amity won, but that was in Woodbridge!

Boys' Lacrosse: Wednesday and Thursday's Top Games (5/11 and 5/12)

Wednesday 5/11

St. Joseph @ #2 Greenwich @ 5pm
-Greenwich should blow the Cadets out but you never know, especially in FCIAC games and really just anytime two talented teams square off, either can come away with the win!

Southington @ Simsbury @ 530
-This is a win Simsbury needs to contend for the #1 spot in the CCC with Glastonbury.  Southington, on the other hand, can go from a decent team to a good one if their talented players come together and pull out a win on the road in a big-time game!

#9 Newtown @ #8 Staples @ 530
-Newtown is undefeated and gaining a lot of hype around the state.  However, this will be their first major test against a consistently Top Ten team.  The Nighthawks are sure to be pumped, as are the Wreckers of Staples, in need of a big win here to prove that they may lose to the top FCIAC teams but, like their win over Glastonbury, they are better than the top teams in the state from other conferences!

Thursday 5/12

Fairfield Ludlowe @ #6 Wilton @ 630pm
-Ludlowe slipped by St. Joseph by one goal and is stillllllllll looking for that big win that will take them to the next level.  Wilton is certainly the favorite and for god reason: they are stacked with talent.  However, either team can win in what is sure to be a highly competitive game, crucial to the FCIAC record of each team.

#7 Ridgefield @ #4 Brien McMahon @ 7
-Another FCIAC game, but this one is even bigger.  Just last week, Ridgefield was #2 in that state but then they lost to the teams that are #2 and #3 now, that doesn't mean they can't beat #4 though.  Me having McMahon ranked higher than the Tigers means I think they are better and would expect them to win this game but I use the word expect lightly since both are extremely talented teams with an intense desire for winning, especially this year.  You're not going to find a better lacrosse game on the day than this so be sure to stop by if you can!

Boys' Volleyball: Monday and Tuesday Results (5/9 and 5/10)

Boys' Lacrosse: Rankings (5/8)

I am now a contributing writer for LawPower and my rankings will be on there every week from now on.  You should check out all their other great content too!

here is the link: http://www.laxpower.com/laxnews/news.php?story=25314

Boys' Lacrosse: Monday and Tuesday's Top Games (5/9 and 5/10)

Monday 5/9

Guilford @ #3 Fairfield Prep @ 345pm
-Guilford is coming off an 11-10 OT upset of Joel Barlow on Saturday, the Indians have a very talented teams when they are healthy.  They should give Prep a run for their money so this game is worth keeping an eye on.

Fairfield Ludlowe @ St. Joseph @ 4
-Two FCIAC teams that are very good but seem to lose to all the top teams in the conference.  This is their chance to prove who is better than the other.  I honestly can't say who has the edge in this one; it should be one heck of a lacrosse game!

Tuesday 5/10

Yorktown (NY) @ Ridgefield @ 630pm
-Don't let their 9-4 record fool you, Yorktown is perfect in their own New York B Section I and they in fact are #1 in all of New York Section I (they did lose to Darien 6-9 though).  Ridgefield really needs this win to reassert themselves as a top team in the state and to prep for #4 Brien McMahon on Thursday!

#10 Glastonbury @ Cheshire @ 730
-I can't tell who this game is bigger for, the Cheshire Rams looking for that big time win to possibly crack into the Top Ten or the Glastonbury Tomahawks that just made it in at #10 this past week and will need big wins like this to stay in.  Oh yeah, Cheshire is the defending Class L champions so Glastonbury, playing in Class L themselves, would like some revenge and to send a message about this year.  This will be a very good night game in Cheshire more than worth attending!

Boys' Volleyball: Top Games for Mon 5/9 and Tues 5/10

Monday 5/9

Darien @ Ridgefield @ 530pm
-Ridgefield is a very impressive 12-1 but their one blemish a 0-3 loss to Darien back on 4/18.  Darien is also 12-1 and their one loss is Staples, a very very good team!  Both teams have gotten better since their first meeting so one can expect a really good game in this one; I'd still pick Darien though.

Tuesday 5/10

Enfield @ Fermi @ 6pm
-The clash of the Enfield teams!  Both Class M teams and both have impressive records, 7-3 and 7-2 respectively.  Fermi's big win is Bloomfield and Enfield's is Farmington but both don't have any other impressive wins.  Expect both teams to be hungry for this one and a good volleyball match.
