Boys' Volleyball: Top Games for Wed 5/18 and Thurs 5/19

Wednesday 5/18

Greenwich @ Bridgeport Central @ 4pm
-Greenwich is 8-5 and playing their last game of the regular season so they have already qualified for the Class L tournament but a win in their 14 game schedule is worth almost .100 points in their win percentage...which determines the seeding.  Bridgeport Central is 12-5 playing their final game as well and a win just means they will host an even easier first round game, so this is more about respect for them and CCC teams not named Newington, Southington or Glastonbury.

South Windsor @ Bloomfield @ 5
-Bloomfield is 11-3 and one of the top seeds in Class M right now while South Windsor sit in an even better position at 11-2 and poised to get one of the top seeds in Class L and possibly even a first-round bye!  Great CCC match right here!

Staples @ Ridgefield @ 530
-You knew the FCIAC was going to have a least one good conference game on the day and here it is!  Staples won this match-up 3-1 a week ago on 5/11 but it is always hard to beat the same team twice, especially when both are volleyball powerhouses with extremely talented teams this year!

Xavier @ Cheshire @ 6
-Speaking of beating the same team twice, this is one of the bitterest recent rivalries in the SCC.  2 years ago Cheshire upset Xavier in the SCC championship game and spoiled their perfect season last year in the regular season, before Xavier won their first ever SCC championship that year, over none other than the Cheshire Rams.  Xavier has the chance to spoil Cheshire's perfect season this year as the Rams sit atop Class L at 15-0.  Cheshire did win the first meeting two weeks ago on 5/2 3-0 but the games were 25-22, 25-23 adn 25-23 and anything can happen when two talented SCC teams go head-to-head, especially in a rivalry like this!

Thursday 5/19

Fermi @ Enfield @ 530pm
-Fermi got the better of the Enfield showdown 3-1 just over a week ago on 5/10 but Enfield is at home this time, where they coming off a huge 3-1 win over Glastonbury, and both teams still represent two of the best in Class M!
